They would paint these symbols on their barns to protect their cattle and warn of bad mojo basically. Either way it's an incredibly esthetic, specific and detailed tradition. It is indeed remarkable. I modelled the 4x4 and a 6x6, the 6x6 was more for an experiment to view the different interactions. But once the base structure is made in 3D it's an easy step sequence to model different variations of what i'll call "nesting", so basically 4 into 1, and then that 1 into 4. So the setup for a 6 into 1 and then 1 into 6 becomes a press of a button. (the 6 variation was more for my own visual understanding than anything else) happy to share if anyone wants to view them, or tell me where I'm wrong. It's a visual experiment, but in short terms, there's obviously going to be variations on inner circle size and outer circle sizes of the torus that will then have ramifications of the overall design of the field interactions.
